Kelpie Wilson is a freelance writer and engineer.
She is currently doing media work for the International Biochar Initiative.
Kelpie wrote a regular column as the environmental editor for Truthout.org from 2004-08. Her articles and essays have been published by AlterNet, Orion-online, Yoga Plus, La Stampa (Italian translation), Grist, and many other online and print publications.
In 2006 she produced a video report on anti-environmental congressman Richard Pombo for Free Speech TV.
Kelpie is a contributor to two recent books: What Liberals Believe, Ed. William Martin, Skyhorse Publishing, May 2008 and Red State Rebels, Ed. Jeffrey St. Clair, AK Press, September 2008.
After graduating with honors from CSU, Chico in 1987 with a B.S. in mechanical engineering, she worked for a small R&D firm designing Stirling cycle engines.
From 1991 to 2003 she worked for the Siskiyou Regional Education Project, a grassroots forest protection group.
In 2004 and 2005 she was a technical writer for a solar power company.
She published her first novel, Primal Tears, in 2005.
